Redbank Plains

by on December 4, 2009

Initially developed as an industrial centre using the river for transport, Redbank lies east of Ipswich, Queensland. The region was initially used for farming and grazing and, in the 1850’s, when coal was discovered various mines developed between Redbank Plains and Blackstone. In later years both cotton and farm crops became more important as did dairy produce.

Nowadays, Redbank boasts three primary schools, one high school, three large shopping malls (including the Redbank Plaza) and a fitness centre. The majority of housing is residential and Redbank is easily accessible by train with a regular service to Brisbane and other major cities.
